Posting Your TRV Sessions On The Web Introduction: This packet contains template files and instruction for setting up your own personal web space and presenting your Technical Remote Viewing sessions on the world wide web. There are three methods you can use to create graphic images from your session pages. Recommended for good results: 1) Purchase a scanner and scan each page into your computer. Save as .jpg or .gif images. 2) Use a fax method which allows you to fax your session to a service which converts your session pages into scanned images and e-mails them back to you. For more information on getting a free fax account, visit http://www.j2.com and click on "jConnect Free." Not recommended, but possible: 3) You can try using a digital camera but your images will not be as consistent or clear. Use this method as a last resort. Included Template Files: This .zip packet includes this readme.txt and two additional files: index.html, which is your main 'home' page and provides links to your session files, and 00000000.html, which is a sample session page that you can rename and edit. The "00000000" in the name denotes the Target Reference Numbers for the session that will appear on the page. These instructions will teach you how to post your sessions at Yahoo Geocities, a free web space provider, but you may use these templates on the server of your choice. To use these templates, it will be helpful if you have a a basic knowledge of the HTML language. If HTML is completely new to you, don't worry, because you can still learn it through the following instructions, a little practice, and trial and error. Step 1: Create a directory Create a directory on your computer with a name such as "Geocities" or "TRVSessions" and transfer index.html and 00000000.html files to it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Step 2: Sign up for your free web space Go to: http://geocities.yahoo.com/ Under the heading "Try GeoCities for free!" on the left side, click on the link "Sign up for a free web site." This step may require you to log in. If you do not currently have a Yahoo account, follow the steps to create one. In the next step, GeoCities asks you to select the appropriate topic of your web site. Select one then press "Continue." On the next page, GeoCities tells you that they have just sent you a confirmation e-mail that contains further instructions. Check your mail to read the instructions. Remember the URL (location) of your Geocities page, which is listed here. The format is: http://www.geocities.com/yourusernamehere On this page there is also a link "Build your web site now!" Click on it. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Step 3: Upload your files to your new site On the next page you will see the header "Advanced Toolbox" on the right side. Click on "Easy Upload." Now, on the next page, click on the first "Browse" button. Select the directory on your PC that you created earlier (the place where you stored your index.html and 00000000.html files.) Highlight (select) "index.html" and then click on "Open." You will now see that file location in the first box on the form. Now, click on the second "Browse" button (the one beneath the first one you clicked.) A File Upload window will appear again. This time highlight (select) 00000000.html and click "Open." Now you will see both of your file names on your screen in your web browser. Click on the "Upload Files" button. On the next screen there should be a message indicating that the files were uploaded successfully. (When you go to your new web site location ( http://www.geocities.com/johndoe ), you should see your new home page.) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Step 4: Edit your home page Now, on this page, click on the link "File Manager." Using your mouse, select the empty check box to the left of "index.html." A check box will now appear. Now, click on the "Edit" button. On the next screen you will see the HTML code for your index.html page. Each major section will have helpful hints describing what each section of code means. (Alternatively, you may also edit your web pages using an HTML editor program, or even Microsoft Notepad, and then upload them using the Geocities file manager.) Scroll down now (about 1/3 of the way) until you see the section labeled: "
